PEF RETIREES The
primary responsibility of the PEF
Today, the political and economic climate is adverse to our mission. We fight
against special interest groups that seek to reduce our health insurance
benefits. We watch our spending power diminish as our fixed pensions lose
purchasing power with rising costs and the decline of the dollar. We advocate
for a reasonable cost of living allowance to compensate for our loss. We become
disillusioned when seniors are considered expendable in our society. We
feel Our
major priority is to strengthen ourselves so we may be up to the task. In 2005,
we worked towards:
A stronger relationship with
the Public Employees Federation.
We have regularly scheduled
meetings with the PEF President to discuss our initiatives and concerns. Our
Executive Board was present at the October Convention as a sign of unity with
the active membership. We have offered several suggestions to further a closer
bond and working relationship with active PEF.
PEF Retiree Growth.
Our retiree membership is growing and we have made a concerted effort to resign
inactive members. We have sent membership kits to all PEF Divisions to encourage
new retiree signup. We have proposed PEF pay first year dues for new retirees.
The PEF Executive Board has met with the members of the
Political Action.
The PEF
Membership Benefits.
We strive to develop a closer relationship with Membership Benefits. We our
reviewing current programs for retirees and considering future offerings that
could benefit the PEF retirees. |
